Can Change approval policies co exist with custom approvals

Hi all, 

We have custom approval functionality developed and we also want to be able to also use approvals configured using the change approval policy functionality. Is this possible to do as we have been advised that a hybrid approach to approval generation is not possible

Can you try and give more details. I'm not sure if we follow what you are asking. Maybe an example of what you are trying to do.
