Can we automate service catalog creation?

Hi All,

Is there any possibilities to automate the service catalog creation.I need to know if it is possible or not since we had to create 300 catalogs from one

application into servicenow. Please share your knowledge guys.

Hi Gopinath,

We can always create them. But the thing is how you want to create them. What data you want to import from other application.

Thanks for your response. Here we had to create 300 different catalog, a solution was proposed to create a script template and by using this we should create our catalog based on the field included in our template which would reduce the manual work. Share your knowledge please.

Hi,

So what we have done initially is we had a excel template created. In this template we had variables, their name, their type, wether they are readonly, mandatory, visible.

This we called as Catalog migrator. Now if you have variable sets to be created then you have to include them to.

We even had some other options like which catalog and category this catalog items should go in. Then Owners of this catalog. How to control their visibility for certain groups and location.
