Can we set up users security questions and answers in Service Now for login?

Hi all,

Can we set up / store some security questions and answers in service now for users authentication?

Scenario is: lets say we have a LDAP and SSO integration with service now for users authentication, one fine day my domain password gets expired or locked out, i will call service desk agent to log a ticket on behalf of me in Service Now to AD team, asking AD them to reset the domain password, now is the issue, where in, service desk agent has to authenticate me against service now for checking am i the valid service now user? he will log a ticket in service now in my name only if im the legitimate user of the system.

So, for this apart from i give my unique service now identification details (like users id, emp no etc..) to service desk agent , i would like to insert some more security , like in service now i would like to set up a security question and answer for that question for my self, so that when service desk agent ask me that question, i   will answer him and he authenticates me against service now using the answer i give.

Are there any built in mechanisms   in Service now for storing my query come answers and validate them during login?

any answers are most welcome.

Thanks

Yogesh

Hi Srinivas, Yogesh,

We have an additional requirement for this, which is to randomly select characters from the answers provided by the user at enrolment.

For example, a Service Desk person assisting a user's password reset over the phone would be prompted (on screen) for the 1st and 3rd letters of Q1, and 4th and 5th of Q2 etc.

It looks like its possible by defining new identification or verification type + script, but I am not sure how that would be written.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Chris

Hello Chris,

Did you ever get this requirement working? we are looking at the same idea ... thankss

Hi Becky,

No, we did not. I have heard unofficially that this kind of functionality will be present in a couple of releases time (possibly L) and also possibly available within the HR scoped app - we are finding this requirement more and more, so hopefully OOB functionality is not too far away!
