Can you clone production to a personal developer instance?

Hi All,

I'm a new, upcoming ServiceNow admin for our company. I have a personal developer instance that I work in, and was curious if it's possible to clone the company's production site to my personal developer instance, so I can make changes there without hurting anybody's workflow and experiment with the new service portal.

Thanks!

Bryce

Unfortunately no.   The personal developer instances are quite small and don't have the capacity for a production database size.   You can clone your production database back into your dev or test instances.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the quick reply. Our company is relatively small. Do you know how much memory is allotted to personal developer instances? I'm not seeing that information on the developer site.

Regards,

Bryce

Should have mentioned they are not allowed to be a clone target anyway as per the FAQ:

You can access "stats.do" to see all of the stats for your instance.   Just type it into the "Filter navigator" box and hit return.

To answer the question, it's about 2MB.

Developer instances aren't there for production builds or testing, they're there for learning and should be plenty sufficient for those tasks.

If you'd like additional sub-prod instances for your actual environment, so you can Clone to them, talk to your Sales person.
