Hello all,
I am unable to reorder the steps in my custom action in flow designer. I see it is very easy to do in flows and subflows, but I don't have the option to 'move' a step up or down in the action like I can with flows and subflows.
I'm taking the Flow Designer training now -- perhaps I'm missing something obvious.
(The example action steps)
(Attempting to drag-and-drop step 3 to be the new step 1.)
(Cannot change the number of the step like you can with the name, either.)
(Moving an action in a flow/subflow is easy)
If anyone knows how to reorganize action steps in flow designer, please let me know.
Best Regards,
Joshua Morrisett

Work around:
- Go to:
< your instance >.service-now.com/sys_hub_action_type_definition_list.do
- Search for your action.
- Add related list "Step Instance":
- From that related list you can change the order:
Hope this helped! If so please mark as helpfull and correct answer! 🙂

That last screen shot in your post is showing you how. You move your mouse all the way to the left until it turns into a 4 way arrow, then you can click and drag to a new position.
Waiting to see that 4 way arrow is the key. It took me a bit to figure it out myself.
Hope it helps someone in future at least (since I assume your workflow was redone by now).

Hello Shannon,
Sorry for the delayed response, I didn't see this in my inbox until today. This may have already been addressed, I have not looked in awhile.
The question in the post is specifically about reordering in the Action designer. Subflows and Flows are simple to reorder (as seen in my screenshot above), the issue is when you need to reorder steps within an action.
I worked around this by creating a new step in between the steps I needed to move to, copied all the contents of the step to the new step and re-associated the pills with the new order of the steps/new step. Definitely not an ideal scenario, but it is possible to workaround this without completely rebuilding the action.
Best Regards,
Josh
