Column header search getting turned off for individuals

Column header search is randomly getting turned off for individuals (i.e. myself). I have a default system user preference for glide.ui.list_header_search.open set to "true" (see attached).

 

But it seems that this functionality randomly gets disabled on both my standard and admin user accounts. It appears to be happening for some other users as well.

 

Does anyone know what causes this preference to get changed to blank/false? Ideally I'd like to prevent it from happening altogether instead of having to try to remember the name of the user preference every time it occurs.

Yeah this is a common frustration. It's to do with the applied filters using AND and ORs.  See this article for workaround which isn't great to be honest:

ServiceNow have no intention of ever fixing this unfortunately.
