Hi @dp5438539

     Reports

  • Think of reports like a photo  - it shows you how things look right now (or for a chosen time).

  • Example: “How many incidents are open today?”

  • Good for: Quick checks, lists, pie charts, and one-time questions.

    Performance Analytics (PA)

    • PA is like a movie - it shows you how things change over time.

    • Example: “Are incidents going up or down every week?”

    • Good for: Tracking progress, seeing trends, setting goals, and predicting the future.

      When to use each?

      • Use Reports - if you just need a quick answer or a snapshot.

      • Use PA - if you want to measure improvement over time or check if you’re meeting your targets.

Performance Analytics (now being migrated to platform analytics) give you ability to group reports, widget, interactive filters in a single view. Platform analytics is used for complex reporting requirements which cannot be fulfilled through reports by creating indicator, breakdowns, formula indicators.

In PA data is fetched through jobs which run on specified intervals.

 Refer : https://www.servicenow.com/docs/bundle/yokohama-now-intelligence/page/use/par-for-workspace/concept/...

Reports on the other hand are simply pulled from tables and are shown in different formats.

These are used for simpler requirements which do not need formula calculations. Reports can be added to dashboards as well.

SN is moving towards platform analytics now.

Hi @dp5438539 ,

Report functionality is about showing data in current state or by fixed timestamps pr. day, week or month. Performance analytics is all about data over time. Performance analytics takes snapshot of data instead of relying on fixed timestamps or current state together with possibility of calculation for report statistics.

If my answer has helped with your question, please mark my answer as the accepted solution and give a thumbs up.
