Discovery not returning serial numbers

I'm testing out Discovery in our DEV enviroment and noticed the 'Is Virtual' field was not getting updated for the virtual servers I'm testing. I reviewed the Virtual Computer Check BR and noticed that it looks for the serial number. The servers, both Windows and Linux, that I've discovered do not have serial numbers populated.
I've not been able to find the exact answer so far. I do have this from the last discovery I did on a single server.
Identifier: Hardware Rule, Rule 2 Searched on <cmdb_serial_number> for attributes: serial_number,serial_number_type:Skipped Identifier Entry.

The issue with this was the formatting of the AD credentials. You have to enter domain\user in the username field. Once I updated that everything was pulled in without issue.
