Document Viewer is not working

Hi All,

 

Today i tried to enable document viewer in my personal instance . But its not working.

I have followed all the steps provided in the below mentioned document.

Could some one tell me why this is not working. My instance is in Kingston.

Hi John,

I guess you will have same root cause as me if you followed all the steps from documentation - plugin "ServiceNow Document Viewer" not activated. Unfortunately it is not available to admins, so you would need to ask ServiceNow to activate it for you.

I opened a HI ticket. Apparently you have to enable a plugin for this. I requested they update the documentation as it has no mention of a plugin.  Plugin Name: ServiceNow Document Viewer

Hi bryanshaw,

Can i enable the plugin in my own developer instance?..Is it possible?

Is it free of cost or licensed?

Hi Malaisamy,

The plugin is available only to "maint" role so only ServiceNow personnel can activite it, not you as admin even.

Once I got the plugin activated, it is working on my Kingston Developer instance.

Could you please share me some screenshots how the view looks for document viewer. Because i have enabled the plugin by Hi portal and i have followed the document. But its not working.

Could you please help me why its not working for me?

Hi Malaisamy,

Here is the screenshot of Document Viewer opening xlsx file:

It looks like simple preview of the content for both - Excel and Powerpoint. I have experienced some small issues like not showing background color for slides. But to have the preview of the content it is usable I would say.

Important thing is that you need to use [view] link in the backend to open Document Viewer. If you click on attachment name, it is still downloaded.

Regarding your issues on your instance, I believe it is because you do not have plugin "ServiceNow Document Viewer" activated. Unfortunately you cannot activate it on your own and it is not documented in the DOCS site now.
