Hi,
We are facing the issue with the duplicate CI's name but class name is different, while doing the discovery run.
name | sys_class_name | location | discovery_source | last_discovered | asset | ip_address | asset_tag | attributes | can_print | category |
abc123 | Windows Server | ServiceNow | 11/7/17 21:51 | VMware, Inc. VMware Virtual Platform | 10.xx.xxx.123 | FALSE | Hardware | |||
ABC123 | VMware Virtual Machine Instance | abc | ServiceNow | 11/8/17 22:07 | FALSE |
Any thoughts would be appreciated!! thanks

These are not duplicates, and perfectly fine to have CIs with same name in different classes.
If they were from same Server or VM class, they would have been counted as dups, but since they represent 2 different class types, they are not dups.
Since the name of server is same as VM here, they might appear as dups, but they aren’t .
And the reason they have same name is because the EC2 VM virtualizes the server, so it inherits the same name as EC2 VM.
This has happened in our case as well, but don't worry these are not dups.
