We recently implemented Developer Sandboxes at our company. We just did our first clone a few months after implementing them. We've had 2 failed clones in a row with problems that ServiceNow had to fix. (Currently it's an open case with them trying to resolve this.)
We've never had this happen before, and it didn't happen on any of our other sub production instances - only the one with the Developer Sandboxes.

"The clone progressed through several stages successfully before failing again at the Node Repoint phase, which is consistent with the previous attempt."
