Export to Powerpoint option missing in Project Status Report?

Hi All,

I am creating a new Project Status Report Template form the Document Template in 'New' Project Workspace. https://[instancename].service-now.com/now/workspace/project/home/sub/status-report/pm_project/[proj...

I have enabled the plugins - Export to PowerPoint and Export to PowerPoint for Strategic Portfolio Management. What else is required to show this functionality? On the classic Project Workspace, Export to Powerpoint feature is visible.

As per documentation, export to PowerPoint is available from Planning section. If you want it to be available from Status report, it would be customization and you need to edit workspace page from UI builder to render export to PowerPoint option. You can try to check Planning page and try to replicate it in Status report page but would recommend to not change this as it would create technical debt with customization and configuring UI builder is not very easy.

You can suggest this process to Client stakeholders & educate the users on the export process and it should be an acceptable option. In the mean time, you can raise a request for enhancement with ServiceNow Product team via Support Portal to request this feature to be made available in future.

I hope you appreciate the efforts to provide you with detailed information. If my response helped to guide you or answer your query, please mark it helpful & accept the solution.

Thanks,

Bhuvan

Bhuvan,

I raised a support case to see if I am missing some other plugin but they confirmed this button is not there. I have raised an enhancement.

Thanks for the update and raising an enhancement request.

Yes, hopefully they include it in Status report page in next update as it would make more sense than extracting from Planning section.

Thanks,

Yeah, it won't be there - you have to be on the planning tab.  Not intuitive in the least - you'd expect it to be in the status report tab.  Once you find it be prepared to have some "fun" in getting the PowerPoint add-in working and then getting a PowerPoint template setup in a way that doesn't throw an error - suggest downloading the default template and then copy / pasting fields directly from it into your template.  I haven't had much luck replicating the same fields in my template - had to copy / paste them (for repeater type fields) from the default template to my own.  There appears to be metadata or something in the background in the default template slide content which makes it work but is not visible when editing / viewing the slide.

Question to all -have you been able to get the ServiceNow "PowerPoint Template" Add-in working with the desktop version of PowerPoint?  The manifest file available for download with the SN instance is .xml (html format) and PowerPoint desktop version doesn't recognize it as a valid add-in (I have tried renaming it but it still doesn't like it).  Wondering if the intended workflow is for use of the SN add-in with online version of Powerpoint only?  Is there another add-in download somewhere to provide the same add-in functionality as exists for the online version of PowerPoint?  I'm on MS PowerPoint version 2507 for reference.  Thank you.
