Hello,
We have the OOTB table "atf_input_variable" and when this is opened, it is shown as below
Issue is , this table record has "Dependent" field twice on form and it is detected in our health scan findings. I have tried to change this from the form layout and when done and moved the update sets to test instance, the changes done to this form are not shown. Is this due to that read-only policy as shown in above screenshot? If so how does this work?

Hi there,
Your suspicion regarding the protection policy is correct. Some records have these protection policies to prevent very important records being updated by non-ServiceNow developers. Only a ServiceNow employee can alter the protection policy and then modify the application file or its related record.
If updating this record is vital, I suggest raising a support case with ServiceNow via the Support Portal.
Please mark this answer as correct if you find it solves your query. Apologies in advance for a somewhat dull solution!

Hello,
Your suspicion is correct. Protection Policies are put in place by ServiceNow to prevent non-ServiceNow developers from changing critical records. Only a ServiceNow employee can alter the protection policy and then modify the application file or its related record.
If making this change is vital, I suggest raising a case with ServiceNow via the support portal.
