I have a client that is interested in attaching a QR Code to hardware within their organization. The QR code should open a catalog item with asset information prepopulated. Has anyone ever done this? if Yes, how?

Hello,
Yes, attaching QR codes to hardware for accessing catalog items is a common practice. Here's how you can do it:
Generate a QR code: Use a QR code generator to create a code that links to the catalog item. compass mobile dollar tree
Prepopulate the URL: Ensure the URL includes the asset information as query parameters.
Print and attach: Print the QR code and attach it to the hardware.
When scanned, the QR code will direct users to the catalog item with the prepopulated information.
Best Regards,
Michael Gardner

Hi @Mark Brogna - This is a common practice. But, depending on where you wish to generate and print QR codes, the level of effort can vary. We've developed an app on the ServiceNow Store to generate QR codes directly in ServiceNow for display in-platform or print, as ServiceNow doesn't offer this capability natively. You can check it out at the link below. If nothing else, it can give you an idea of what is possible. If you're interested in discussing the app and your particular use-case, feel free to reach out - I'd be happy to share our experience.
