Get the attachment variable to only accept PDFs

In the Service Portal we have an attachment variable applied to one of our templates, and we would like to customize the variable to only allow PDFs. How can we do this for the attachment variable in a way that does not affect attachments globally?

It is the attribute "allowed_extensions"
