You need to allow DOM manipulation for your client script.

Please add "Isolate script" flag in client script form layout and make sure it's unchecked like below

Hi, 

I am trying to hide the add icon in upstream relationship legacy builder, they can add downstream relationship and they shouldn't see the add icon in upstream relationship, so that they will avoid adding it by mistake. Can someone pls help?

but how can i check in backend from where like either in macros or what this backend name of (+) icon which you have given as add_relationship , because i am not getting this
