How can I disable a keyboard shortcut?

Alt+Gr is a key combination in Poland which is actually a character. in ServiceNow Geneva this opens and closes the application navigator which is quite annoying as you can imagine.

I have raised an enhancement request with ServiceNow as they do not see this as an existing issue. (Although there was no issue in previous versions)

Has anybody got any experience with disabling single shortcuts or all of them?

Hi,

It looks like Servicenow have provided a solution to disable shortcuts via the cog menu.

Hi Prabjoth

We have the same issue for our Polish users. In Poland the most common keyboard is the international standard keyboard. Polish is an internationally recognised language and the norm is to use an international keyboard and access their extended characters using the Alt-GR key + the key for the character to be accented. This combined with the software map is how Polish is typed into applications. This is different to a language like French as the French tend to use a French Language specific keyboard rather than the international one.

In ServiceNow when the Polish users are trying to type the accented C they will press and hold the Alt GR key then press the C key. Sadly this causes the focus to move out of whatever field that you are typing in and moves it to the Filter Navigator. Which is opening or closing as "access key" + C is the toggle for the navigator bar used in UI 16.

Jakarta has made this worse as in pre-Jakarta instances the navigator just opened and closed but it still allowed you to carry on typing your word. Annoying visually but you could finish your data entry. With Jakarta the focus moves.

So for example if you imagine the word ServiceNow with an accented C you would start to type into a field and you would get as far as   Servi then your sidebar would toggle and you would shift focus to the filter navigator and the remaining letters the     eNow word will appear there.

UI15 did not map the access key to the ALtGR key it mapped it to the Alt Key also the keybinds were different, so UI16 and Polish is annoying, UI16+Jakarta+polish is a royal pain.

To date our only real workaround is to go back to ui15 for Poland.

It isn't just Polish it affects other languages as well that use extended character sets and the international keyboard.

Please be careful about moving to Jakarta if you have international users.
