How can I hide an entire catalog for a certain group ?

I have two catalog's on the portal, "Catalog1" and Catalog2", I want to hide the "Catalog1" to all the user's that are in the group "group2" how can I do this ?

The problem with this is that if I want both the catalogs to have the same record's do I have to duplicate them all ?

yes, once your user criteria record is created, you can then open the other catalog item, navigate to Not Available For > Click on Edit button > search the user criteria name that you created > click on Save.
This time you do not need to create the new record of user criteria, you can add the existing one.
