How to add Work item sort order based on Expiring SLA?

You can add related list conditions, but you can't add related list sorts.
An Ok-ish Work Around
Just show them the SLA's for active Cases and use dot walking on the list view to present Case data with the SLA data. You should know that a case may appear multiple times, since you can have many SLA records per task. The advantage here is you have them working towards their total set of expectations, and not just tasks.
