Hi,

I believe that you are not allowed to change field type when table already contains data.

In this case you need to empty the table or create a new field.

Note: Best practice is to avoid changing field types on existing fields. Instead, create a new field, migrate the data, and deactive the old field.

Thanks,

Hi Ramesh,

I agree with the comment of Goutham, Changing the field type is not recommended by ServiceNow for best practice.

Field type can be changed but it may cause data loss. Please find the below link for reference which was answered by one of the ServiceNow MVP.

Also, as I see that you already changed the type of field from reference to list. I would suggest you to move an xml of dictionary record from other instance(e.g-Prod/Test/Sand etc.) if they are still Reference type.

Hope this Helps!

Kindly Mark my answer as Correct and helpful based on the Impact.
