How to create parent and child link for custom application

HI

I have a requirement  link same table parent and child for example we  have OOB  for incident and child incidents

I need to create same way for custom table  could you please help on this  step by step

if any script is required please provide script

incident and child incidents are not parent child

On incident form you show child incidents using related list/relationships

What's your actual business requirement?

My requirement is how incident  and child incidents works

If state is change for incident same state need to update child incident automatically

there is already 1 OOB business rule to sync state from parent to child

Is that BR not active in your instance?
