how to disable the field when a form is opened in view mode

I am just started working on service now, just wanted to disable the field when a form is opened in edit mode. is there any way to get it done?

Not entirely sure what you mean by mode, but if you go into System UI > UI Policies, you can configure which fields are visible, read-only, and mandatory, and specify conditions (for example, if the case is in a certain view, or in a certain state) for those policies to apply.
