How to export project? (with the tasks included)

Hi SNC,

Is there a valid option to export a project with the tasks and relationships, so that you can import it later on.

Only option I see is export to XML, but it only exports the base info about the top project task.

Sure, I have two problems with the Export/Import XML operation.

First, the Import action can be performed only if you have elevated security admin rights, and in my case I want Project Managers to be able to import projects, but I definitely don't want them to have the security admin rights.

And second - when you export a project in XML from one instance (say Staging) and import it into another (say Prod) the IDs of the project and project tasks are absolutely the same and there is a risk (almost guaranteed) that you will end up with duplicate IDs of project tasks. Like I mentioned in one of my previous posts, we already hit that wall in our environment - we have two projects with same task IDs (one created from scratch on Prod, and the second imported) and it's a complete mess.

Mohan Konyala , Given the opportunity I was asked - I would recommend that you guys build the functionality to create a project from a template (and by template I mean a bundle with the skeleton design - preset tasks, relationships, etc.) Just like Anurag Tripathi described above. I actually raised a HI ticket for this some time ago, but with no effect.

However, thanks for joining and expanding this conversation, I think it's very valuable!
