How to extract the attachment from the downloaded xml file?

Hi,

I have downloaded the incident with attachments. How can I extract the attachments offline? Or what tool can I use to achieve it?

For example, if I export an incident record with 3 attachments including an image, an Excel file and a Word document, how can I extract/download these three attachments from the exported xml file?

The background is my client is migrating to their global corporate instance, so they need to export all the records with the attachments for auditing purpose. However, they are not importing the records to the global corporate instance. However, due auditing reason, they will need to show the xml files and the attachments in a more readable way.

Thanks!

Hi @Ankur Bawiskar ,

A customer needs to discontinue their regional ServiceNow instance and merge to their global instance. So they would like to download all the historical data (e.g. incident, change, problem and requests) with attachments. This is achievable by exporting the records in xml files.

However, after downloading all the data, they need to be able to read this data for audit reasons. Their global team cannot give the regional team a separate temporary instance.

For the text part, although it is not very user friendly, but they can still open the file in some xml reader. However, to review the attachments, the xml reader is not extracting/saving the attachments, so we are stuck here. Is there any tool or anyway that we can extract the attachments from the exported xml files?

Thanks.
