hello snow,
you need to create audience records for the list that you want to restrict based on role
Refer this below screenshots for the process
1)open your workspace in UI builder and select list at the top as shown in below screenshot
2)Click on Applicability as highlighted in above screenshot at the bottom right corner and create a new audience record ans give roles as per your requirement
3)Then again come back to UI builder and click on M2M applicability as highlighted in first screenshot and then create a list applicability record tagging your list and the audience record.

Currently what i did to show/hide the list category in agent workspace is
I have added a specific role to all the filtered list under the list category, in My case I wanted to show the "Service Orders" list category in the AW for specific role, so i have added a specific role to all the workspace list under that category and it is hiding the entire list category and its sub list.
Please guide me if i am wrong!!
