Hi All,
I have got some some CI's in the Personal computer table (cmdb_ci_pc_hardware) table which has been mapped wrongly (CI class is personal computer). These CI's does not have an asset at this point of time (asset is empty). Ideally these CI's should be in the Computer table (cmdb_ci_computer).
Can anyone advise the best way to move these CI's from personal computer to computer and create assets for those CI's in hardware asset table.
Thanks

Hi @janindiadoc_1, how did these device came to CMDB, Discovery or ACC-V or Integration/Upload?
You can change the class within List view if you show this field in the list (Docs).
But you should check how these CI came in. If it was an Upload or integration then find the ETL and change the class there or if you still use the legacy Transform Maps, check that these CIs will be inserted in the right target table.
If they come in via Discovery or ACC-V than you can easily create a CI classifier for these type of devices (Docs)

Hi Daniel,
These CI's came in as part of the SCCM Service Graph connector and ITS Jamf integration. These are created when the integration was enabled and now there are no latest CI's that's been created in personal computer table. Looks like some issue in the initial configuration.
But these are the real CI's and that need to have asset in the system.
Thank you,
Anjana

If it's only about creating assets, this can be reached by creating the right Model category for your CI type and Asset Type mapping. You need to create the Product Models for these category and the ServiceNow should automatically create asset for this. How to configure you will find here https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/utah-it-asset-management/page/product/asset-management/concept/c_...

Thank you Daniel for the reply.
Is it okay to create model category for Personal computer and map to asset table. Is there a reason why the Personal computer does not have a category mapped OOB. Is it because the personal devices are not considered as organisation owned devices?.
Thank you,
Anjana
