How to start upgrade planning from Washington to Yokohama

We are planning for Yokohama release , and we received change requests from servicnow for DEV , TEST , and PROD

i have not participated in upgrades before , can you please help me with the pre requisites need to be done before upgrade

and please help me with upgrade plans
