Import a CSV file from Windows to ServiceNow

I'm struggling to find up-to-date and COMPLETE information on the methods available to import CSV files into ServiceNow from remote Windows locations.

For example, placing the file on a network share, placing the file in a local directory on the MID server, etc.

Right now for example, I'm playing around with the Scheduled Import, using a File Data Source. I figured that's what this would have to be for, but there seem to be some holes in it - e.g. no where to specify a MID server, no clear indication of what the "File Path" is, or the format it should be in.

Is anyone able to provide a summary of up-to-date methods of achieving this? Essentially, ingesting a CSV file that's either been dumped on a network share somewhere in the Windows network, or dumped into a CSV file on the MID server itself.

I just located this thread which seems to be someone facing all of the same confusion as me. Linking here as it might help to highlight the path I've been down so far trying to find a reliable answer to this.

Hello Steve,

There is not OUT of box solution available to import file using the MIDServer . But there are some custom solutions available on the servicenow share that uses MIDServer to import file. I have used one of them and that works well. Yo can find that in below link
