Is it possible to schedule periodic clones?

We'd like to schedule periodic clones to copy our production down to our test instance every weekend. We've been doing this manually, but I'd like to set up a schedule to do this periodically. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Yes, you can Create clone and run schedule job for recurring clone.

Refer to this Schedule Clone for more info.

I'm all for automation but if you forget to backup your update sets - ugh! We try for month clones, as long as everyone can backup their update sets.

Good point. It does require a bit of discipline. We have multiple test instances; our plan is to designate one of the instances to be as close as possible to the production instance. We'll use it to do a final test before moving anything to production. It should therefore never be the main repository for update sets.

Not sure if you've upgraded or will upgrade to NY, But I thought this is pretty interesting.

You can use System Clone to schedule automatic clonings, which is the easiest way to keep your cloned instances up to date.
