I'm missing the ability to Elevate Roles. To go further I don't see the security admin in of my available roles? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

You are absolutely right, Jarod!
If an admin user (System Administrator) use the Application Navigator and navigate to System Security > Users and Groups > Roles and search for security_admin role - he / she will not be able to see it due to security constrains. Yet, if this admin user did already the Elevated Roles option, and made himself / herself a security admin, then he / she will be able to see the role presented in the list of roles.
@ Kim, if this is what you meant (Roles list) with the expression "of my available roles", then Jarod provided you with information & answered this part of your question.

Hello Kim,
Could you please provide us with more details about the situation in which you are currently in?
For example, I would like to receive some input in regards to the below questions:
- What do you mean by "To go further I don't see the security admin in of my available roles?"? Where do you look to see this?
NOTE: if you are looking to see the security_admin role among the roles of admin user (Contains Roles tab), then you will not see it presented there, as it should be removed (hidden) from the list by Security constraints; So, please be more specific here.
- I suppose your user has or better to say: had the admin role assigned to it. In other words: you are / were System Administrator. Right?
- Did you make yourself such or a colleague of yours made you (provided you with the admin role)?
- Do you know if any changes were made with the system (instance itself) recently and especially with your user?
- For how long time you are / were System Administrator (had the admin role) and there were no issues with the system?
- Also please let us know on which version is your ServiceNow instance running?
P.S: for the moment (without having the above information) and if you are running on Helsinki + its latest patch, and recently provided your user with the admin (System Administrator role), then I would advise you to log out of the instance and then log back in, and check to confirm if your user really does have the admin role;

Hi Kim,
Yes, from Helsinki on wards you are not supposed to see the security_admin role. Here is couple of workaround based on the instance you are using.
If Personal Instance:
In your personal instance System Administrator (admin) has the security_admin role. Please login with the user and provide the role to other users. You may refer Unable to find security_admin role in Helsinki version of my personal instance?
If Production Instance:
You may contact SN Support for this. Or if you have pre-prod instance with you, you can import your user record from there via XML and use it in the Production instance. Considering the pre-prod is prior to Helsinki version. You may refer Helsinki and Security Admin .
I hope this helps. Please mark correct/helpful based on impact
