Item Variable Permission not work with Attachment fields?

Hey,

I am developing a catalog item. This item has an attachment variable that only admin users can see. When I configure the "Permission" tab, the rules don't work. But if I change the variable type to Single-Line Text, they work.

Is this a limitation of the platform?
