Knowledge MS Word Add-in Valid To date format issue

Knowledge MS Word Add-in Valid To date format is using the default system format of yyyy-MM-dd, whereas in our instance it is configured to use dd-MM-yyyy format. Hence when a knowledge article is opened on the instance, it is in dd-MM-yyyy format and when the same article is opened in MS Word, it shows up in the same format with an error 'The date must match format: yyyy-MM-dd'.
Can anyone assist how to fix this issue, error screenshot attached.
