Life Cycle status locked by transfer order

This issue is probably due to an import of bad data when we 'tried' to move to a green field instance.  Unfortunately for us, management complained that they needed the legacy data and now we are stuck cleaning up the messes of the past.

In any case, the problem.  I am trying to clean up some of the life cycle data in relation to our endpoints.  I have run into an odd occurrence.  I have found an asset record that has been set to 'In stock' > 'Pending transfer'.  In the record's activities, it points to a Transfer order that was not completed.  This has happened before and normally I would process and complete the transfer order. In this case, the offending record is not listed in the transfer order.  I am at odds as to how to fix this.  

With the record stuck in this state, the life cycle fields are locked.  Really, I just need to know how to unlock them if I cannot complete what ever transfer order has locked the states.  Thanks.
