Migrate data from custom table to OOB

Victor Monteale

Hi everyone, I've been requested to migrate data from a custom table to an OOB table. My question is:

do we need to download custom table data and use import set - transform map to complete data migration?

Is there another way other than downloading this data and uploading it in a data source table?

Thanks for any comment!

it's not going to be straight forward task and no other way

yes you will have to use data source, transform map, field map and then transform data to your OOTB table

Hi @Victor Monteale

We had a similar case with our customer. Initially, we built a custom table and then migrated it to OOTB.

A few points to consider:

  • Please check whether you need all fields from the custom table in the OOTB table.

  • Check if there are any dropdowns in the custom table—do you need all of these in OOTB?

  • If your answer is yes, then verify what OOTB provides and see if we can replace values instead of adding new ones.

  • Also, since you are migrating, your reports, dashboards, SLA, and notifications may change.

  • My suggestion: don’t move the data to OOTB immediately. It’s better to start using OOTB as fresh and keep the custom table as read-only for another 5–6 months until OOTB is fully stable. This approach will save a lot of time.
