Modifying the Vendor Portal (SVDP) in Service Portal Designer

I've been asked to make some changes to branding for the Vendor Portal, including adding a logo, changing colors, and removing the "spaceman" image. I accomplished the first (2) tasks using the Branding Editor (Service Portal < Service Portal Configuration < Branding Editor). For the 3rd task, I learned that the configuration for the "spaceman" pic is in the SVDP Greeting widget.

So I cloned this widget, modified the Body HTML Template field to use a different pic, and planned to update the Vendor Portal page to use this new widget in the Service Portal Designer. For some reason, I'm not able to see anything for the Vendor Portal:

I'm assuming it's a security issue, but I'm not certain what role I need to have added to get the job done. Doing some research, I've learned that you are only able to see the vendor portal if you are an external user (snc_external). However, I would think there aren't any external users who would have admin access to update this portal page, so it has to be some internal role - right?

Thanks!

Hey there,

So it looks like you are on the right path, there is just no preview available in the page designer which is OK. If you replace the widget in the designer with your cloned version, does it not work?

Also, one cheat way I have seen work to overwrite some of those images is to actually just upload a different image into the system images. I don't know if that would  work in this instance, but might be something to try also so you don't need to customize the widgets.

Hi Nick,

You are correct; not being able to preview doesn't prevent me from making changes. It seems so obvious now that you've brought it to light!

I was successful in swapping the widget with the new one, and I could preview in a private browser by impersonating someone with the required role.

Thanks!
