Hello Folks,

Below Details will helps to protect our PDI Implementation and avoid this Reclaiming situations for PDI.

The tough decision sanjaybagri_0-1783882315828.png :

ServiceNow is reclaiming inactive PDIs. We know this change will be frustrating for some developers, but it’s an important step toward improving access across the developer community. This change is intended to keep PDIs available for the people who are actively building.

Why is this the path forward sanjaybagri_1-1783882315828.png :

It’s become harder for developers to get a PDI when they need one because demand has outpaced capacity, and inactive instances are preventing builders from getting access. Our goal is to help keep PDIs available for the people who are actively building. By doing so, we help improve PDI availability. We’re reclaiming inactive PDIs as one step in a broader effort to make PDIs more consistently available for developers who are actively building.

Please read on to understand what exactly is changing, and our recommendations for how to protect your work.

The Change: Reclaiming inactive PDIs sanjaybagri_2-1783882315828.png

We're reclaiming PDIs that meet both conditions below:

  • 90 days or older (based on when they were provisioned)
  • Haven't had a PDI login in the last 10 days

Background processes and developer site logins don’t count toward activity. An explicit login to your PDI is required.

 How you'll know if you’re affected sanjaybagri_3-1783882315829.png

No one’s PDI will be reclaimed without advance notice. If your PDI is eligible for reclamation, hope you have received three notifications:

  • July 7: First notification
  • July 10:  Reminder sent one day before reclamation
  • July 11: Reclamation notification

If you have received any of these emails, this is the time to back up anything you care about.

Our Guidance

Protect your work. Here’s how sanjaybagri_4-1783882315829.png :

Before your PDI is reclaimed, make sure you’ve backed up anything you want to keep:

  • Export your update sets.
  • Connect scoped apps to source control.
  • Export custom data you'll want later.
  • Save attachments and configurations.
  • Back up custom scripts and properties.

PDIs are built for experimentation, learning, and short-term projects. Regular backups are the best way to preserve your work. For detailed instructions on what to do, please visit our previous post: https://www.servicenow.com/community/developer-blog/how-to-backup-your-personal-developer-instance-p...

Where this is headed  sanjaybagri_5-1783882315830.png :

Reclaiming inactive PDIs is just one step in a broader effort to make PDIs more consistently available for developers who are actively building on the ServiceNow Platform.

We’re also evaluating improvements to the underlying PDI infrastructure to provide a more reliable and performant developer experience, and we’ll share more as those plans are finalized.

We’ll continue monitoring PDI availability and how these lifecycle policies are working in practice. As demand and capacity evolve, we may adjust these policies to help ensure developers can reliably access the resources they need.

 Thank you for understanding.
