So I have an update set in my Dev environment that is "In Progress".
I would like to clone my prod instance into my dev, but don't want to lose my update set that I'm still working in.
So, here are the steps I'd like to perform.
- Move my "In Progress" update set from DEV into QA.
- Clone PROD over DEV
- Move that "In Progress" update set back from QA to DEV
Is this even possible?
I don't want to Complete or Commit this update set. I just want to gingerly move it around.

Yes, but it only imports the update set record itself, and with none of the "Customer Updates" records.

did you try to export those update set XML and then import that in "Local Update Set" module in your target instance. ?

yes, correct it will not capture customer updates until you mark the update set as complete.
you have to mark them as complete and then you can import it on target instance, once clone will complete you can open those update set and set them as in progress ( if you have some other development left ) that will capture those changes .
