Parallel Tasks where only one needs completed

Building a flow where we are asking for Bob to work a task.    If Bob doesn't work his task within 7 days then a new task is activated for Bob's boss to complete a task.   The part I am having trouble getting to work is if either Bob or his boss completes their task for the flow to then auto close the other task and move on to the next segment in the flow.   I have been trying Do the following in Parallel but can't get the auto close other task to work.   I am really trying to stay away from using scripts if at all possible.

It would be helpful to see your flow attempt.  It sounds like this will work in your case, assuming a Catalog Item scenario:

1) Uncheck the Wait box on this activity.

13 and 14 are after the parallel paths.  Note that these activities will not run twice as each parallel path reaches its end, which is an improvement over the branch activity in workflow editor.

Thank you Brad, this looks exactly what I was not able to figure out.  I was close but missed the cigar.   Appreciate the detail too.
