Recent Chrome update broke ServiceNow's text highlighting

With the recent Chrome update to Version 131.0.6778.70 (Official Build) (64-bit), the texts and fields in ServiceNow suddenly cannot be highlighted. CTRL+A then copy then paste still works but highlighting texts using mouse or Shift + directional arrow does not work. I'll be submitting a ticket to HI but just starting this thread in case somebody has an insight to this.

Our Chrome issue is resolved. However, while we may now function in Chrome [Version 131.0.6778.70 (Official Build) (64-bit)] , but not in Edge for Business [Version 131.0.2903.51 (Official build) (64-bit)] .

We are having the same issue for Washington DC Patch 8 in Edge Version 131.0.2903.51 (Official build) (64-bit)

If highlighting is essential, a quick workaround is to turn Next experience of. 

Next experience is turned off in our instances. 

Is there any other workaround besides using a different browser?

We experienced this issue, and for some reason, simply restarting the Chrome browser (ensure all sessions are closed) alleviated the issue, and it hasn't recurred. We have not applied the UI Script in our instances, and the browser is still on Version 131.0.6778.70.

 

  • I'm uncertain at this point why restarting the browser worked...
  • We've been on Washington Patch 8 since Oct 20th.
