Reference Field Issue

Hi all,

I've added a reference field to the business application table.  When you click on the search/magnifying glass is shows the reference table and allows you to select an option.  However, if you just start typing in a name, it gives zero options.  How do I make it so that you can start typing in the name?  Thanks for any suggestions to fix.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hi @Jonathan102,

Which table did you configure the reference for? (as in which table is it pointing to?)

When you click on the magnifying glass does it pop up a list of expected records? Is it a custom table?

My thought process at this stage is that the underlying table that your field is pointing to does not have its 'Display value' set as the list of values should start displaying as you type as part of the baseline configuration.

Can you check and confirm the display value is set? Navigate to the table the reference field is pointing to (Under the Navigation menu, type 'Tables' under 'System Navigation'.

Search for and click on the table name which will open up the corresponding table form.

Under the 'Columns' tab, confirm the 'Name' or whichever field is appropriate for your use case has the value of 'true' set within the 'Dsiplay' Column.

Thank you so much!  By setting the display value to true on the field I was referencing, it resolved the issue!

No worries at all @Jonathan102. Happy to help and resolve the issue...

Have a great remainder of the day.
