The screen has editable fields with a list that shows data from a custom table. One of the editable fields is a list of applications in a drop down menu, and I want that to be the basis of which applicable columns to show instead of asking the user to change the personalized view. Is it possible to change column layout depending on the chosen value from a drop down menu?

Do you mind sharing a screenshot to visualize it?

Hope this helps. Say I have list of applications like MS Office, Excel, Teams, etc., and there's application column in the table too. Is it possible to only show Access 1-2 for MS Office and show Access 3-4 if I choose Excel? I'm thinking this could be executed through View Rule or you might have a better idea to achieve this?

Hello,
Yes you will have to write a view rule however I am not sure in your case it will work as the related list will inherit the view of the form you are on.
But you can give it a try.
Please mark my answer as correct based on Impact.
