send mail to smtp server

Can SNOW directly send emails to an SMTP server instead of going via exchange ? I mean sending email to xxxxxx.corp.gwpnet.com , port 25.

This server is already smtp enabled so we may not need to use exchange at all.

Please follow these steps to configure an SMTP server:

  1. Navigate to System Mailboxes > Administration > Email Properties. Check Email sending enabled as below:
    find_real_file.png
Also, add a test email address in the Send all email to this test email address textbox and click Save.
  2. Navigate to System Mailboxes > Administration > Email Accounts. Open the existing ServiceNow SMTP and uncheck Active as below and click Update:
    find_real_file.png
  3. Then click New to create a new SMTP server. Fill in all properties and make sure Active is checked. Click Submit.

With that, now you can send out a test email when you're ready.

Thanks John.

My team will try this and I shall keep you updated. Many thanks for the assistance.

OK, now that you have tested using Outlook, use the same parameters here and you should be good to go. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Hi John,

The above steps worked fine.

In our case we wanted to configure two SMTP servers. i.e. all SNOW related notifications go to a specific mailbox and only for one app the SMTP should be different.

We have achieved this in a different way making changes on the Exchange server side.

Many thanks for your assistance on this.

Hi all, I have the very same issue. I tried to configure another SMTP server however SNow (Helsinki) allows only 1 emailing server to be active at the same time. Is there a SNow way of achieving this?
