Service Portal, can non-roles users see activity stream?

First-time Service Portal developer here. I started building it for our non-itil users and put a table with incident data that opens in a form view. One thing I haven't been able to do is get the Activity Stream (comments only) to show on the incident. Either I am doing it wrong or it's designed that way. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hey Cort,

Check out the OOB IT SP, there is a widget call "Simple List" and you can copy the widgets options from the OOB version and then edit them accordingly to show the main and secondary fields that you would like.  There is an option called "Link to this page" that you can actually edit on either simple list or data widget, just generally the simple list is more commonly used.

Best,

Andrew

Hello Cort,

My understanding is that clicking the data table and navigating to the form view of a record does not include the activity stream OOB.

But before going down that path, typically the ticket page gets used portal wide when displaying information to end users anyway (Which does include a nice interface for comments).  You can use the attributes of the data table to change where it redirects to navigate to the ticket page rather than the form view page, and it tends to be a much nicer experience for the end user.

Please explain why you are using a data table, and why you have it sending an end user to a form view, so that we can best help you and not send you down an unnecessary technical configuration.

Best,

Andrew

Thanks for the response, this is very helpful. I realize I don't need to be using the data table widget. I would just like a list of incidents on the homepage that they can click on and it would open that incident to the Ticket view.

I just didn't see a widget that lists tasks/incidents. Is there an easier way to list/open to a ticket view?
