Setting Background image for Mobile view of Employee Center (also resizing desktop window)

Hello, 

does anybody please know what could be wrong with setting a smaller image for mobile view for Employee center?

I have created the 800 x 250 px svg image and attached it to the container as by default but instead of new image, see just grey background as following: 

and Bonus question: Do you know where can I change color of menu button (in the right upper corner)? I didn't find the button element with inspection tool. Is it bootstrap?

I don't know if this is still needed, but it worked for me when working from desktop to resize the window until the image changes back to OOTB image and the ctrl-right click the search bar. This gave me the opportunity to change the ootb image to customer image.
