We have discovered that when the system or a user tries to send an email to our service desk the emails are ignored with the following reason "SMTPSender: no recipients, email send ignored" this same email address is our email account for outbound system emails and replies. Is there a setting we can change where the system will not ignore emails sent to this email address? My gut feeling is they are being ignored because the email address "sending" the email is the same as the email address receiving the email. When we change the email to our service desks alternative email address everything works fine.

Hi Kim,
Even you are not using inbound email you can not select the sender email address as the recipient address. This is not suggested and will be banned for most of the email servers. You'd better select a different recipient address to send the email out.
Inbound email is an important feature and in future you will not avoid to use it so this also will cause potential looping issues sooner or later.
Cheers

Hi marskh11,
This is working as expected because we can not send email to the instance email address.
This will cause serious looping issue on the email server which will possibly block all other email traffic going through the email server.
Please specify a different email address when you want to send out an email.
Thanks
Henry

Hey Henry!
Thanks for the reply. We do not use inbound email though, so shouldn't there be a way to change this for instances where inbound email isn't used?

is there any further solution for this problem ? Can we have same email address for both inbound and outbound address ? or different email address is mandatory ? or how should we fix this problem ? any alternative way ? I am trying to test IMAP/ SMTP with respect to Inbound and outbound . Where as email our customer has given same mailbox address to configure for both( which is not working - mails are not sent or received ) ,
Would be grateful if you provide some further soultion for this.
TIA
