Submit Catalog item in Flow Designer issue

I am trying to submit catalog item request action using flow designer. I specify the catalog item template for the fields in the catalog item but I am getting a mandatory field protected and not able to enter the information required. Have you had this issue? If you have is there a solution or something that I could to to bypass this problem. Your expertise flow designer expertise will be appreciated.

I assume those are variables on the catalog item itself.. are they of any of these types? 

• list collector
• lookup multiple choice
• lookup select box

If so, this action currently does not support variables of these types.

This is a long shot but check the Catalog Item for Catalog UI Policies and Catalog Client Scripts that may govern how Request Type works.   I don't THINK Flow Designer tries to obey those, but its the first thing I'd check.
