The cmdb_ci_environment table and cmdb_environment_to_ci tables - usage?

The cmdb_ci_environment table and cmdb_environment_to_ci tables, are they used for a specific process, or are they there for general use? We would like to understand what these tables are for, so we can possibly utilize them. Can someone please give us examples of how these table can be used? And, what is the difference between these fields, and the Classification field, where the OOTB values are Production, Development, Development Test, UAT, etc?

If the above two links doesn't give u an idea. Raise a HI ticket with servicenow for documentation of these CMDB classes . Hope they have it somewhere
