Translate Search bars placeholder text

kevinbruneau

Hi all,

I noticed that my search bars aren't being translated when changing language to French (On my Portal and on the Platform itself). Instead of displaying 'Rechercher', it displays 'search'.

I tried create it's key under sys_ui_message, but no luck there. I looked into the Typeahead Search widget to see if I could change anything, but it stays in read-only access.

Any guidance would be appreciated

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi there,

Have you tried applying I18N debugging to see if its MSG (sys_ui_message), or something else like TRT, TRF, etc.?

Kind regards,

Are you also using the out-of-the-box Typeahead Search widget or a cloned/older version? I just tried with the out-of-the-box version, works immediately when updating the existing UI Messages.

Can you share a screenshot of what you tried, regarding the UI Messages?

Hi all,

the reason why this wasn't working is because there was already a record for that translation with the wrong message..

Works now! 🙂

Would you guys know how I could change the placeholder text for the search bars on the portals specifically? Or does it absolutely need to be the same all across the platform?

Thank you very much everyone!

Some UI Messages will be very specific, and most likely only apply in one or two places in an instances. Though a UI Message with key "Search", would most likely be used in a lot of places in the instance. So when updating that UI Message for a specific requirement somewhere in the Platform UI, it would also reflect in places in your Instance you might not have expected or did not wanted (or perhaps you do ofcourse 😁). That's just how UI Messages work.

Kind regards,
