Unexpected Auto-Approval When Assigning Request to Self

I’m experiencing an issue in ServiceNow where a request that requires user approval from approval group is sometimes automatically approved (happened 3 times as of now) when a user from the approval group assigns the record to themselves.

1. checked audit history and you can see below, the same time when the user assigned to themselves is when the system approved the record.

2. Checked the flow but as this has happened 3 times only with multiple other records working as they should. Hard to pin point. Tried to recreate issue but did not occur

3. The flow is set up that the record is approved once one user within the approval group approves the record is approved. See attachment below

Please advise.

What are they assigning to themselves?  The group approval record or something else?  If its the group approval record then check to see if you have a business rule doing this.

Otherwise you need to provide more details on how your approval/workflow is setup.

Added flow ss above.
They are assigning to themselves the record that their group is being requested to approve.

Have you looked at the approval records and the group approval record to see what is happening there?

Its possible that your instance that has a business rule that is doing this but you should be able to reproduce it them by impersonating the user that caused it.

I did, and it did not recreate the error. On the first screenshot it was the system that approved the record and not the user.
