Use Custom geoJSON Data for Custom Map Report

I am trying to find out if it is possible to change the level 2 country map to be broken into custom regions instead of states.  I have a JSON file for the regions but not sure what else needs to be done to get the map report working. 

 

Has anyone tried this before?

Looks like this was asked in two forums, here's my response in the EAM forum to the same question:

There doesn't appear to be a lot of familiarity out there around the formatting Highcharts and SNow use for their geoJSON maps. I'm trying to figure this out at the moment as it appears they use some scaling or something in the coordinates within each map.

To answer this question directly, in theory you could so long as the region uses a key that is referenced within the world/parent map.
